Sir John Soane's Private Apartment

I caught it online today, that is, a blog post at the NYTimes about the opening of private apartment of Sir John Soane in London for the first time in 160 years. Located on the second floor of the museum, Sir Soane's rooms can be viewed by appointment. You know you want to go.

  1. If you meant Sir John SOANE, rather than SLOAN, then this is indeed cause for rejoicing.

    1. Ah! Mea Culpa. Corrected. Why I missed that? I have no idea. D

  2. Dear Daniel James, you may be confusing Sir John the architect with Hans Sloane the developer (Sloane Square and environs). The house museum was the work of SOANE. (Soane alone, by the telephone, if a nemonic is required!)

    1. Indeed I am. Funny how to eye can look but not see, and the ear hear but not listen. Guilty as charged!

  3. Gosh, this is exciting news indeed. One of my favorite houses - and I've visited it countless times - is expanding once again. Upon each visit there is something new opening up from the past to keep the experience of this gem alive and well. I could live in the place.
